Bio: John R. Legg is a Ph.D. student at George Mason University. He studies the history of Santee Dakota movement after the US-Dakota War, primarily from Minnesota to Manitoba, Canada, to explore the relationship between the U.S.-Canadian border and Dakota diplomacy and belonging in the nineteenth century. John took his BA from Middle Georgia State University in 2017 and completed his MA in history with a public history certificate from Virginia Tech, where his thesis won the most outstanding MA Thesis award through the William Preston Society.
