Bio: After completing my Bachelor's in History and Philosophy at the University of Ottawa, I spent a "gap year" in Ireland, Great Britain, and central Europe. Upon returning to Canada, I decided to forego graduate studies in favour of more travel. I took a teaching position with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. After four years in Japan, I completed my Master's in History at the University of Ottawa. Then in 2011, I completed my Ph.D. with the History Department of the University of Victoria, British Columbia. Since 2011, I have been teaching Japanese, East Asian, world, military, and environmental history at universities across British Columbia. I am presently working on my manuscript entitled "Mistaken Identity: Race, Nationality, Ideology, and the Formation of the Korean Community in Japan," currently under contract with UBC Press. |
