Bio: John Hennessey is a doctoral student in history at Linnaeus University (Växjö, Sweden), with affiliations to the Swedish National Research School in History and the Linnaeus University Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in history and French literature from the University of Notre Dame (South Bend, United States) and a Master's Degree in Asian studies from Lund University (Lund, Sweden). His dissertation will investigate prewar Japan’s linkages to the global culture of imperialism and how Japan’s empire was presented to the metropolitan and international publics through venues such as expositions and travel literature. |
