Tim Urban received his Ph.D. in art history from the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin for his dissertation on "Hans Memlings 'Turin Passion' and the topography of the holy land" in 2011. Since 2004 he is working as an assistant at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz - Max-Planck-Institut and since 2010 as an assistant at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin. Between 2007 and 2009 Tim Urban was Research Fellow at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe. He works on visual narration, theories of space, and concepts of Jerusalem.
