Bio: I got my BA from the University of Tulsa (Oklahoma), and my Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am currently a professor in the History Department of the University of Michigan, where I have taught since 1994. My main areas of interest are the histories of modern Poland, the Roman Catholic Church, and religion more generally. My work includes *For Faith and Fatherland: Catholicism, Modernity, and Poland* (Oxford University Press, 2011); *Christianity and Modernity in Eastern Europe*, coedited with Bruce Berglund (Central European University Press, 2010); and *When Nationalism Began to Hate: Imagining Modern Politics in 19th Century Poland* (Oxford University Press, 2000). |
