Bio: Hastings Donnan received his DPhil from the University of Sussex and is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy and Fellow of the Academy of Learned Societies for the Social Sciences. He is the author, editor or co-editor of over fifteen books including, most recently, The Anthropology of Ireland (Berg, 2006), Culture and Power at the Edges of the State: National Support and Subversion in European Border Regions (Lit Verlag, 2005), Interpreting Islam (Sage, 2002), Borders: Frontiers of Identity, Nation and State (Berg, 1999), Border Identities: Nation and State at International Frontiers (Cambridge University Press, 1998), and Islam, Globalization and Postmodernity (Routledge, 1994). He is Professor of Social Anthropology at Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland, Assistant Director of the Centre for International Borders Research in Belfast and Associate Editor of the journal Anthropological Theory (Sage). |
