At the moment I am working on a couple of articles on the influence of African-American culture on American mainstream culture. I am especially interested in the mechanisms that made it possible for the culture of a group of people that has been the victim of suppression and racism almost througout it's history, to become nevertheless such a dominant influence on American culture in general. I am also working on an article about the concept of whiteness as it is used in American discussions and it's usefulness in the European and especially the Dutch situation.
