I direct the oldest Center on the Southwest in the United States. We have major archival, photographic and artifact collections including the Durango Collection(r) which represents 800 years of weaving in the Southwest.
My research interests include the American West, Native American history, Tribal preservation, and environmental history.

I have a Bachelor's degree in History from Colorado College, an M.A.T. from Colorado College and a Ph.d. in American culture/American history from Bowling Green State University.
I am the author of Boomtown Blues: Colorado Oil Shale; America's Country Schools; and Sacred Objects and Sacred Places: Preserving Tribal Traditions.
