Bio: PhD Columbia University, 1971, in African History with a minor field in Middle Eastern History. publications primarily on francophone West Africa and Muslim societies there. Recent work was PATHS OF ACCOMMODATION published by Ohio UP in 2000 on Muslim societies and French colonial authorities in Senegal and Mauritania work with H-West Africa since its inception in 1998; work with digital library project, , out of Matrix and through NSF grant and in partnership with institutions in Dakar, Senegal, 2000-2003 |
