Sara W. Tucker <sara.tucker@washburn.edu> Washburn University I've been involved in H-Net since 1993, when I first joined 3 discussion lists (H-Teach, H-Women and H-Asia). I greatly enjoyed both the discussions and the colleagues I met online, so was delighted to be asked, summer 1994, to join Mark Kornbluh as co-editor of H-Teach. As an H-Teach editor I continue to value our many far-ranging conversations on both the details and the most basic ideas concerned with teaching history at the college level. I've also greatly enjoyed holding various H-Net elective offices, culminating in 2005 when I served as H-Net president. At age 60 (as of late 2006) I've begun a 3-year phased retirement that lets me work half time, with the great majority of my assigned duties devoted to helping colleagues across campus find comfortable, productive ways to use technology in their teaching. I also continue to be busy doing programs for the Kansas Humanities Council and am currently finishing up a small "We the People" grant to collect the oral histories of Chinese- and Taiwanese-born immigrants now living in Topeka, Kansas. |
