The Faculty for the Study of Culture invites applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) of European Ethnology and Cultural Analysis
(Chair)
commencing on October 1, 2025.
Applicants are expected to represent the subject of European Ethnology and Cultural Analysis (formerly Folklore Studies) in its entire breadth and, in addition, to complement the expertise available at the Institute of European Ethnology and Cultural Analysis with innovative research foci. Experience in the successful acquisition of third-party funding as well as the willingness to participate in research initiatives at LMU Munich and in the committees of the academic self-government are required.
Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification in European Ethnology, “Empirische Kulturwissenschaft” (i.e. Cultural Analysis) or Folklore studies, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.
