Position Summary:
The Federated Department of History at New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University, Newark invites applications for a tenure-track historian, based at NJIT, to begin September 2024. This faculty member will principally support NJIT's undergraduate program in Law, Technology and Culture (LTC) and may contribute to the federated department's graduate course offerings in the History of Technology, Environment & Medicine/Health.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to historians whose scholarship is law-related.
- Chronological/geographical area(s) of expertise are open.
- Some preference may also be given to applicants whose law-related research also aligns with the Department's strengths in one or more of the following fields: environmental history, history of science, history of medicine, history of public health, history of technology, or media history.
- Applicants who use digital humanities methods in their research or teaching are especially welcome.
- Applicants should have evidence of scholarly accomplishment and effective teaching, with Ph.D. in hand by July 2024.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
