Assistant Professor

The Department of History at New Mexico State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (position number 197398, job number 498320) of twentieth-century U.S. history, beginning in August 2024.  We especially welcome applications from candidates whose expertise could include public history, borderlands history, and/or digital history. 

Faculty members in the Department of History at NMSU are dedicated researchers and teachers eager to work with students in introductory surveys, upper-level undergraduate courses, and graduate seminars in our MA program. Standard duties for academic-year (9-month) faculty include maintaining a strong research program; teaching three courses per semester, including at least one General Education U.S. survey course per semester as well as additional undergraduate courses and graduate seminars; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, including training graduate students and advising MA theses; and providing service to the Department and University.
