The Department of History at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Modern South Asian History at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 16, 2024. We welcome applications from scholars whose research explores any topic, region, or period within that specialization. Priority will be given to applicants whose research and teaching interests show a deep engagement with South Asia as a colonial, national, postcolonial and/or global formation, 1750 to 1947. All thematic emphases are welcome, including environmental history, colonialism and post-colonialism, transnational or global history, digital history, religion, labor, migration, diaspora, and gender and sexualities.

Completed Ph.D. in History or related area required; publication and teaching experience preferred. Salary competitive.
