The Faculty of Theology at Heidelberg University invites applications for a
Full professorship (W3) in Practical Theology (f/m/d) - Religious Education
starting in the fall/winter semester 2025/26.
Candidates are expected to teach practical theology in a comprehensive manner and have a broad spectrum of research interests in this field. We look for someone with a particular expertise in religious education for future ministers and teachers (Fachdidaktik). We are especially interested in candidates with areas of concentration in interconfessional and interreligious approaches to religious education and/or digital learning. Candidates are expected to work with the Heidelberg School of Education, the Religionspädagogischen Institut Karlsruhe, the Pädagogische Hochschule Heidelberg, and the Predigerseminar der Evangelischen Landeskirche in Baden.
In accordance with Section 47 of the state law governing higher education (Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg), candidates must have a completed degree and excellent doctorate in theology as well as a Habilitation (second book) or equivalent qualifications as demonstrated, for instance, by a successful evaluation as junior professor. A strong record in teaching is also required.
