The Faculty of Theology at Heidelberg University invites applications for a
Full professorship (W3) (f/m/d) in Historical Theology (Reformation period and modern age)
starting in the fall/winter semester 2025/26.
Candidates are expected to teach historical theology and church history in a comprehensive manner and have a broad spectrum of research interests in this field. We look for someone with a particular expertise in Reformation history. A second focus should be either on modern European church history or the global history of Christianity. Candidates should be able to offer classes in English, have an interest in working with the Heidelberg Center for Digital Humanities (HCDC), and experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
In accordance with Section 47 of the state law governing higher education (Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg), candidates must have a completed degree and excellent doctorate in theology as well as a Habilitation (second book) or equivalent qualifications as demonstrated, for instance, by a successful evaluation as junior professor. A strong record in teaching is also required.
