Position: | Post-Doctoral Fellow |
We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship at Wellesley College. In addition to pursuing their individual anti-carceral/abolition feminist research agenda, the postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with the co-PIs (Jennifer Musto and Laura Grattan) in co-creating and advancing the work of a newly established regional hub, the Anti-Carceral Co-Laboratory (ACC). Innovative, intersectional, and interdisciplinary in scope, the ACC is a Mellon-funded project that fosters engaged learning and supports community-driven research on the carceral state and anti-carceral/abolitionist resistance in the greater Boston, MetroWest and Northeast regions. The hub’s work centers the experiences, insights, and expertise of impacted communities, particularly women, girls, and non-binary people and families impacted by incarceration and criminalization.
The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with local partners, organizers, advocates, activists, and artists in co-developing programs and advancing community-engaged projects to respond to carceral violence and reimagine safety. The fellow will also teach one course per academic year (a total of two courses during the fellowship period) related to their interests in the arts, humanities, or humanistic social sciences.
This is a two-year postdoctoral fellowship which will begin in the 2023-2024 academic year. We invite applicants from the humanities and humanistic social sciences with expertise that includes but isn’t limited to critical carceral, anti-carceral feminist studies, abolition, transformative justice, community-engaged/community-accountable research and/or emancipatory research methods. Ph.D. completed or near-completion required.
