This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position. For the 2022-2023 academic year, the University has implemented a pilot program allowing employees to work either a compressed 4-day work week with extended workdays or may work from home one day a week. Participation is subject to Divisional Executive approval depending on operational need.

Brief Job Overview/Summary
This Historical Studies program at Stockton University invites applications for a full-time (10-month) Non-Tenure Track Position (NTTP) World History with a specialization in East Asia, South Asia, or Africa.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
This one-year, ten-month position involves teaching both face-to-face and online History courses at the undergraduate level. Courses will include lower-level World History surveys and upper-level courses in areas of specialization. Preferred areas include East Asian/Chinese History, South Asian/Indian Ocean History, or African History as well as thematic areas listed below.
Candidates from historically underrepresented populations are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will teach one course each semester in the university's interdisciplinary General Studies program. Also, one Program or General Studies course each semester will fulfill university goals as a Race and Racism Education-designated (R1/R2) course. The workload will be 32 credits for this 10-month position, of which 24 will be teaching credits (or three 4-credit courses per academic semester) and 8 will be non-teaching program responsibilities.
This position may involve teaching at Stockton’s instructional sites in Galloway, NJ, and Atlantic City, NJ (which are approximately 12 miles apart).
A NTTP requires a track record of excellence in teaching. School of Arts and Humanities NTTP faculty members are encouraged but not required to produce high-quality publications in scholarly journals and present peer-reviewed work at appropriate academic conferences. Limited support for scholarly activities is available.
NTTPs will be expected to contribute to service to the program, school, and university.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D degree preferred, ABD candidates enrolled in a History PhD program and finishing a PhD are also encouraged to apply for this NTTP opportunity
- Evidence of experience and potential for teaching, research and service is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrolled in History PhD program, ABD status with coursework and exams completed
- Area specialization required with preference for scholars working in Ethnicity, Race, Migration, Diaspora; Public History; Empire/Colonialism; Environmental History; Disability Studies
