Position(s): The department of History is recruiting for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Native American History
Starting Date: July 1, 2023
Salary: The salary range for a Visiting Assistant Professor is from $70,000 to $90,000
dependent on qualifications and experience. This is a negotiated rate of pay and is not
dependent on a UC salary scale, APM 230.

Federal law, evidence of authorization to work in the United States ***
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification: Ph.D. in History
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching Native American History at the college or
university level.
UCR is a world-class research university with an exceptionally diverse undergraduate student
body. Its mission is explicitly linked to providing routes to educational success for
underrepresented and first-generation college students. A commitment to this mission is a
preferred qualification.
Duties: Successful candidate will teach six courses over three terms, one of which will be at the
graduate level.
Duties will also consist of advising graduate and undergraduate students in Native American
History, and service to the Department of History.
Courses of instruction:
HIST 36 Native American History, 1800-1899;
HIST 37 Native American History, 1900-Present;
HISA 141, Southwestern Native American History;
HIST 30, Themes and Personalities; an upper-division course; and one graduate seminar in
Native American History.

and teaching interests, 2-3 teaching evaluations, diversity statement, and 3 letters of reference:

committee.
