The Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for the Howell Postdoctoral Research Associate in Arabian Peninsula and Gulf Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the intellectual life of the department, but also assist faculty in establishing programming related to the Gulf, Arabian Peninsula, and Indian Ocean World. Ideally, the candidate would use the time to produce publications relating to the region as well. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or one of the allied disciplines in the humanities or social sciences, or from an area studies department. This position is also open to applicants who already hold tenured or tenure-track positions in other institutions.
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. The anticipated start date is August 2023. The anticipated salary for this position is $50,000.
This position will remain open until filled. Review of applicants will begin on April 15, 2023. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
