The Harrison Ruffin Tyler Department of History and the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at William & Mary invite applications for a two-year, non-tenure-track visiting position in modern Chinese history and culture (field open) to begin August 10, 2023. The successful applicant is expected to be an effective teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load. Each semester two courses will be in History and one course will be in Chinese Studies for Modern Languages & Literatures. These courses include a survey of East Asian history since 1600, freshman seminars in the faculty member’s area of expertise, and upper-division courses in modern Chinese history, literature, and film taught in English.
Required Qualifications: Applicants are required to hold a Master’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. or ABD is preferred by the time of appointment.
