Assistant Professor, Military History

The Department of History of the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking to make a tenure-track appointment, at the Assistant Professor rank, in Military History, to commence in 2023.

The search committee welcomes applications from military historians working on any chronological or geographical area. Scholars who focus on nineteenth and twentieth century Asia are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will have a completed PhD degree, teaching experience, and a strong research agenda rooted in appropriate fields in military history.

A competitive remuneration package, based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate, will be offered. According to the QS Rankings 2022, the NUS Department of History is ranked 13^th among university history departments worldwide, and 1^st in Asia. It is one of 15 Departments, a Program, and a Language Centre within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Southeast Asia and East Asia are areas of special strength for the Department, which consists of more than 30 faculty members with research interests in various aspects of Asian, American, and European history, business history, environmental history, international history, maritime history, military history, religion and history, and the history of science and technology.

Application dossiers should include a complete list of publications, research interests, and teaching experience, as well as any other relevant information; a covering letter explaining why the position at NUS is of interest; and the names and contact information of no less than three academic referees.
