The Department of Philosophy, History, and Politics in the Faculty of Arts at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Comparative Politics, area focus open.  The successful applicant will be expected to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in political studies with the opportunity to develop courses related specifically to their area of expertise, and to contribute to graduate teaching and supervision in the faculty’s newly established Master of Arts in Human Rights and Social Justice program.  The successful applicant will hold a PhD in political science or related discipline, and have experience teaching courses at the undergraduate level. The department seeks a candidate with an active research program that demonstrates excellence in scholarship through peer-reviewed publications.

Our department offers a BA joint-Major in Economics and Political Studies, as well as Minor in Political Studies (a BA Major in Politics and International Studies is under development), and a wide range of opportunities to engage in scholarly teaching and mentorship activities outside of the classroom, including a thriving annual undergraduate student conference. Assistant Professors at TRU teach five courses during the academic year. The successful candidate will engage in active service work to support and sustain our rich programming, and to contribute to the collegiality of the department, division, and institution.

QUALIFICATIONS *

A PhD in Political Science or a closely related discipline should be held by the time of appointment. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV, research and teaching statements including contact information for three references.
