Marshall University’s Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Europe and Imperialism (excluding the Americas), beginning in August 2023. Candidate must have a specialization or sub-specialization in race and/or ethnicity. Candidates who can teach the British Raj are especially encouraged to apply. The department seeks highly qualified candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and research.
Along with courses in their specialization, candidates should be prepared to teach aspects of European history and the history of the Global South, as well as survey and methodology courses required for the History major. The department also seeks candidates who will contribute to the University’s general education curriculum with its emphasis on a common First-Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance students’ critical thinking, and the College’s support of interdisciplinary programs of study.
Candidates interviewing on campus must have official transcripts (undergraduate and graduate) forwarded directly to the chair of the search committee by their degree granting institutions, prior to an on-campus interview. We expect candidates will have a Ph.D. in History in hand by July 2023.
