Position Announcement
The Department of History and Political Science at Utah Valley University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in U.S. history (20th century to present) beginning in Fall 2023. The position is open to all specializations and areas of study. The position is a nine-month appointment with a 4/4 teaching load. During the academic year, the successful candidate will teach lower-division surveys in U.S. Economic and Modern U.S. history, an upper-division course in Utah history, and courses in their areas of specialization. Candidates must have experience teaching in a college or university setting and show evidence of commitment to engaged teaching, active scholarship, and service. Application deadline is December 19. The application must include a cover letter, CV, graduate transcript, writing sample, teaching statement, and contact information for three references. PhD in History must be completed by date of appointment.The search committee expects to conduct first-round interviews online in late January. Minimum Qualifications
Required:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Ph.D. in a directly related field.
Preferred:
Ph.D. in Modern US History must be completed by date of appointment.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of United States History 1900-the present and area(s) of specialization.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques in upper and lower division courses.

Skills:
• Demonstrated research skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Evidence of successful teaching, research productivity, service and commitment to professional development.
Abilities:
• Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate students in upper and lower division courses.
