JOB SUMMARY:
The Languages, Literatures and Cultures Department at Adelphi University invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor in Spanish beginning in the fall of 2023. Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, experience teaching in a U.S. university setting, and Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment. Candidates' teaching experience and research should be in Hispanic Literature.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsibilities will include teaching a range of undergraduate Spanish language courses and upper-division courses in language, literature and culture.
• The individual will also coordinate the elementary and intermediate Spanish courses (levels 1 through 4) and language placement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Background in Translation Studies, International Studies, and/or experience in teaching Spanish for Specific Purposes is desirable.
• Teaching experience, making scholarly contributions to the discipline, advising and mentoring students, participating actively in recruitment and retention of students, participating in additional departmental, college, and university service, familiarity with new technology, and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion are required.
