Summary:
Lincoln University of Missouri, a land-grant HBCU founded in 1866 and located in the state capital, invites applications for a full-time, 10-month faculty position in Middle or High School History/Social Studies Education. The successful candidate will be an engaging, student-centered teacher who will teach courses ranging from U.S. and/or World History surveys to upper-division courses in teaching methodology. Other responsibilities include advising majors seeking certification, overseeing student teacher placements, and scholarship. The teaching load is 4/4 (with one course per semester centering on student teacher observations).
Required Qualifications:
- Terminal degree (either a Ph.D. or Ed.D.) required, though ABD candidates are encouraged to apply.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience, with 3 years of teaching experience at the middle or high school level
- Familiarity with, or a willingness to become expert in, Missouri accreditation requirements and standards
The Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess:
- A valid teaching certificate in grades 6-12 in History or a related Social Science discipline
- Experience in middle or high school history methods
- Experience with adolescent learning theory
- College teaching experience
- Field supervision experience
