The Office of University General Education oversees the offering of two courses of the University Core Requirements - “Understanding China” and “Hong Kong in the Wider Constitutional Order” under the General Education China Programme (http://ugcp1001-1002.oge.cuhk.edu.hk/index.php).

We are interested in applicants who are trained in the discipline of Humanities and Social Sciences with a focus on China. Applicants with a background in history or law would be especially welcomed. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, depending on the credentials of the candidate.

Applicants should have (i) a master’s degree or above, preferably a PhD degree, in the discipline of Humanities and Social Sciences; and (ii) a strong commitment to teaching and the pursuit of knowledge. Research credentials on China-related topics, fieldwork experience in China, or experience in teaching China studies would be an advantage.

The appointee will be expected to (a) teach undergraduate courses; and (b) contribute to curriculum development and enhancement of teaching and learning in the General Education China Programme.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one to two years commencing in January 2023, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
