HUMAN RIGHTS STUDIES PROGRAM

The Human Rights Studies Program at the University of California, Davis plans to recruit for a Unit 18 Lecturer for the spring 2023 quarter. Primary duties will be to teach two courses in support of the undergraduate teaching program, including: HMR 138 “Gender and Sexuality” and HMR 135 “Human Rights Tools”. Assignment of classes, hours of instruction, and office hours are at the discretion of the program. Classes taught are between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience. Shared office space, access to the campus library, copier, and computer facilities will be provided.
This appointment is renewable contingent on program teaching needs and funding. The successful candidate will join a growing interdisciplinary community of scholars committed to excellence in Human Rights Studies research, teaching and public engagement. Requirements:
A PhD in a relevant Humanities or Social Sciences field is required. Experience teaching a course independently, evidence of teaching excellence and/or potential for excellence in Human Rights Studies, and a developing record of scholarly or professional achievement in an area of expertise related to Human Rights Studies is preferred. Expertise in Middle East, Africa or South/East Asian Human Rights Studies desirable.
