Job Description:
The Department of History at Louisiana State University is pleased to announce the availability of the Charles Phelps Manship, Jr. Endowed Chair of American History. The Department invites applications from historians with distinguished records of scholarship and teaching in pre-1900 United States History. We welcome applicants working in a variety of subfields. The position carries a competitive salary and a generous support fund. Our department is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse and pluralistic faculty and we encourage applications from members of groups underrepresented in History. Additionally, we seek candidates whose research, teaching, or experience has prepared them to contribute to diversity and inclusion in higher education
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in History and evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarship. A minimum of 10 years of higher education experience (for candidates applying at Professor rank); a minimum of 6 years of higher education experience ( for candidates applying at Associate Professor rank).
Teaching load of two courses per semester. The appointment begins August 2023. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. Review of applications will begin October 30, 2022.
