Assistant Professor, Civil War and Reconstruction history

Marshall University's Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track professor position in the Civil War and Reconstruction eras beginning in August 2023.  We seek highly qualified candidates who have a commitment to excellence in both teaching and research.

The department also seeks candidates who will contribute to the University's general education curriculum with its emphasis on a common First-Year seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance student's critical thinking, and the College's support of interdisciplinary programs of study.  

Candidates interviewing on campus must have official transcripts (undergraduate and graduate) forwarded directly to the chair of the search committee by their degree granting institutions, prior to an on campus interview.  We expect candidtates will have a Ph.D. in History in hand by July 2023
