The Department of History at the College of Charleston invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professorship in Public History, area of specialization open, to begin in August 2023. Candidates must have a firm commitment to teaching both undergraduate and masters-level courses in a liberal arts and sciences environment. The ideal candidate will show promise of excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with the Department of History M.A. program, departmental internship program, the Carolina Lowcountry and Atlantic World Program, the Lowcountry Digital History Initiative, and the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture.
Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in History or a related field by August 16, 2023, but ABDs close to completion may also be considered. Initial interviews of selected applicants will be conducted via Zoom, and we expect to hold in-person campus visits for finalists in early 2023.
