The Department of History at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a non-tenure track position in early U.S. History at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position for one academic year.
The successful candidate will teach seven courses, in both lecture and writing-intensive seminar formats, across the academic year at the UConn Storrs campus. The teaching load will include up to two sections per semester of the first half of the US history survey. It will also include upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, such as Colonial America, The American Revolution, History of Women and Gender in the U.S. to 1850, History of Urban America, or other courses listed here: https://catalog.uconn.edu/directory-of-courses/course/HIST/.

- Ph.D. or equivalent in history, degree received prior to starting date.
- Specialization in early US history.
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence.
- Commitment to working with a diverse student body.
- Research or teaching interests in one or more of the following: Colonial America, Revolutionary America, Early Republic, Gender History.
- Experience teaching the US history survey.
- Experience teaching writing-intensive seminars.
This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2022. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. This position does not lead to academic tenure. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will include research and travel funding.
