The History Department of the College of Charleston invites applications for a visiting assistant professorship in U.S. History to begin the Fall semester of 2022. Historians in all subfields of U.S. History are welcome to apply, with preference for a specialist in Public History. The successful candidate will teach four sections per semester, including both the 100-level general education requirement in pre-modern history (either pre-modern or modern history) and the 200-level U.S. History survey (either pre-1865 or post-1865). The general education classes are organized thematically, around the professor’s academic interests, where appropriate. The ability to teach an undergraduate Introduction to Public History course would be a bonus. All requirements for the Ph.D. in History must be completed by August 15, 2022.
