The Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh seeks applicants for a tenure stream assistant professor in U.S. Latinx history, for appointment beginning in August 2023. This search is part of a multi-year university-wide cluster hiring initiative in Latinx Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in that initiative, which will create a critical mass of scholars with expertise in Latinx studies at the university. Synergies link the initiative to Pitt’s Center for Latin American Studies and Center for Ethnic Studies Research and to new certificate programs in Afro-Latin American and Afro-Latinx Studies. Required qualifications:
· PhD in history (or closely related field); ABD candidates must be scheduled to defend their dissertations by August 1, 2023
· Research focus on Latino/a/x history
· Demonstrated research skills and a promising research and publication agenda
· Evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching and graduate mentorship in support of a diverse student body
