Book Review Editor

The Royal Asiatic Society seeks a book review editor for its distinguished international Journal. The Society is committed to developing the book review section of JRAS to make known and stimulate debate about published research in the humanities and social sciences that relate to Asia. The position would suit a tenured or early career scholar based in an institution (ie university, museum, gallery etc) supporting multi and inter-disciplinary work on Asia, and who would be keen to know more, on a broad front, about lively, first class academic publications appearing from presses anywhere in the world. The task would involve selecting books for review from among those recommended by publishers and colleagues, identifying appropriate reviewers, and making editorial decisions about the reviews submitted. The person appointed would join the Editorial Board of the Journal and be offered a modest honorarium. The review editor would have full administrative support from the Society’s office in London.
