The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) at Northeastern University and the Department of History invite applications for a two-year visiting appointment in Modern Japanese/East Asian History. This full-time, benefits-eligible appointment on Northeastern’s Boston campus will begin in Fall 2022 and continue through Spring 2024. The appointment will be made at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the history of East Asia as well as courses on the history of Modern Japan and/or China. The teaching load in the department will be two courses per semester, and the Visiting Assistant Professor will have considerable autonomy in developing the content of their courses.
The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach the introductory survey course East Asian Studies during the fall and spring semesters and survey courses on Modern Japan or China during either semester. Teaching assistants may be assigned for lecture courses depending on size of enrollment. The Visiting Assistant Professor may also teach one specialized seminar each year depending on curricular needs of the department.
