The Intellectual Heritage (IH) Program of Temple University is pleased to invite applications for a Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Assistant Professorship. The initial appointment will be a one-year renewable contract. The start date of this appointment is August 2022. We seek candidates from all liberal arts disciplines to teach the pair of core courses all Temple undergraduates take: IH I: The Good Life and IH II: The Common Good. The IH courses are the foundation of Temple’s General Education curriculum. In these seminars, students share ideas, ask questions, and actively listen to peers in a free exchange of diverse viewpoints about the historical, social, and cultural bases of prevailing beliefs. They also make connections between historical texts about human existence and current moral, social and political issues. The teaching load will be four classes per semester, with 20-28 students per class. The IH Program is housed in the College of Liberal Arts. For more information on the program, visit https://www.cla.temple.edu/intellectual-heritage/ Our program values interdisciplinary research, collaboration, and collegiality. We are committed to promoting a diverse intellectual community and strongly encourage applications from women and under-represented communities. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive, but best consideration will be given to applications received by April 15, 2022. Interviews of candidates will be conducted via videoconference.
