The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in East Asian Religions, beginning in August 2022. The initial term of the appointment will be for one year, with renewal contingent upon performance. The successful candidate will be asked to teach six courses over two semesters, including an undergraduate survey of religious traditions in China, Korea and Japan, an introductory course in Buddhism, and topics courses in their area of specialization. Scholars who have expertise that crosses national borders are particularly encouraged to apply.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in East Asian Religions or related field in hand prior to the start of the appointment, and should be able to demonstrate prior successful teaching experience.
Applications must include a cover letter, a current CV, at least two syllabi of proposed undergraduate courses, a teaching statement for the year of appointment (up to 1500 words), a writing sample (not to exceed 30 pages), and three letters of recommendation.
