The International Studies Program at the College of Charleston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of International Studies to begin August 16, 2022. This position is for one academic year. We seek a candidate whose research and teaching focus broadly on important global issues such as migration, refugees, environmental challenges, or international and transnational institutions and networks. The successful candidate should be able to teach sections of our introductory course in International Studies and preferably a Cross-Regional Studies course and a Special Topics course in their area of expertise. Regional focus is open, candidates with a transnational/global perspective are preferred. An earned PhD in International Studies, or related fields including but not limited to History, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, or Cultural Studies by August 16, 2022 is required.
The International Studies Program began at the College in 2010 and is among the largest of the College’s majors. The Program includes faculty from disciplines such as History, Economics, Anthropology, and Political Science and prides itself on multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary courses and research. The College of Charleston is located in historic downtown Charleston in a coastal metropolitan area of 800,000.
