Position Summary:
Assistant Professor of History with non-Western specialization. This is a full-time, tenure-track position in the Department of History and Political Science within the College of Arts and Humanities. Arkansas Tech is a mid-sized liberal arts university emphasizing teaching (4/4 load) and undergraduate education. Departmental undergraduate programs include B.A. in History, Public History, Social Studies Education, Political Science, International Studies, and Cultural and Geospatial Studies. The department also offers a M.A. in History and supports the Master of Liberal Arts program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, teach and assess undergraduate and graduate History courses in-class, online, and mixed modality.
Effectively advise and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Engage students in high impact learning practices.
Develop and maintain a significant and sustainable scholarship agenda.
Contribute departmental, college, university, and professional service to the university, community and state.
Engage in assessment and continuous improvement of courses.
Perform other duties assigned by the Department Head.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a history of working effectively with colleagues
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D (or ABD with expected completion date by August 15, 2022)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching online courses
Evidence of peer-reviewed, original scholarship
Preference may be given to candidates with specialties in Modern Africa, Modern Middle East, or Modern Asia.
Preference may be given to candidates with the ability to teach classes in an aspect of Public History or Digital Humanities.
Candidates should provide evidence of or potential for fostering an inclusive environment for diverse populations.
