The Department of History, Humanities, and International Studies invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of History with specialization in Diplomatic/International History starting fall 2022. Candidate must hold a Ph.D. in History (or a closely related discipline) OR a Master's degree in History (or a closely related discipline) combined with professional experience commensurate to a doctorate (i.e., a credentialed diplomat or senior government service) and have college level teaching experience. Required specialization is in U.S. Diplomatic History/Foreign Relations with strong preference for additional specialization in Military History. Preference also for additional regional specialization in Indo-Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, or Global Studies. Candidates must be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in US Diplomatic History as well as some undergraduate and graduate courses in Military History. The successful candidate will contribute instructionally primarily for the interdisciplinary BS and MA in Diplomacy and Military Studies degrees as well as for the undergraduate BA in History and BA in International Studies degrees. Desired qualifications include: extensive undergraduate and some graduate/online college teaching; scholarly publications/an active research stream; Master's level thesis supervision; experience teaching military students and willingness to teach on satellite military campuses; potential to accept future leadership roles within the DMS program and/or department. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
