Minimum Qualifications:
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Ph.D. in post-1900 U.S. History, subfield open. Candidates nearing completion of the Ph.D. may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2022.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning, including a strong focus on closing equity gaps. We are looking for candidates committed to first-year student success with a vision for an equity-minded approach to this course. In addition to teaching the U.S. History survey, the successful candidate will also offer new and/or existing upper-division surveys and seminars within the area of specialization. Bilingual candidates will be given preference.
Responsibilities:
This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service (such as student advising). All students at Chico State take a survey course in U.S. History.
The Department:
The History Department, housed in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, offers a B.A. and an M.A. in History. We currently have approximately 200 majors and also serve students from all majors through Chico State’s General Education program.
