Tenure Track Position in History
POSITION: Western Colorado University invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in History beginning August 2022.
General area of specialization is open but of particular interest is the ability to teach Global Europe and U.S. history. Secondary fields outside of U.S., Africa and Latin America are of interest, especially experience or specialization in Digital History and/or Public History. Teaching load is 24 semester credits per academic year (4 courses per semester) and the position involves academic advising, assisting with the History League, program recruitment and the development of Digital History projects and/or course. There is also the opportunity to develop and deliver innovative courses in one’s area of expertise.
The History Program at Western Colorado University is part of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences. The Program has two full-time and one .5 part-time faculty members and approximately 40 Majors and three tracts: Standard History major, Secondary Licensure, and Public History. We are looking for innovative forward-thinking faculty to help modernize our History program offerings.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in History, experience in Digital History, the ability to teach Global, U.S and European history, and evidence of teaching excellence as well as the demonstrated ability to work collegially in a student-centered learning environment. Evidence of building relationships with external constituents that benefit students is a plus.
SALARY/BENEFITS Salary range is $50,000-55,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include an employee/employer shared contribution retirement plan and life and health insurance.
