Cocurricular Programs Coordinator
The Co-Curricular Program Coordinator is a core member of the Jewish Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts. The position offers the opportunity to work with students, faculty, staff, members of the local community and alumni affiliated with the Jewish Studies program. We are seeking culturally competent candidates who can assist the faculty with program planning and student advising skills. Critical thinking, problem-solving, strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills are essential for success in this position. Experience with organizing programs in the academic setting is desired. The Program Coordinator reports to the Director of the Jewish Studies Program.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop, implement, execute, and assess of programs and events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Jewish Studies Program which may include receptions, lectures, workshops, and conferences.
• Serve as a first contact for students who are affiliated with or interested in the Jewish Studies Program.
• Advise students about the curriculum, courses, special programs and opportunities, financial support and requirements for majors, minors and the Holocaust and Genocide as well as the Biblical Studies certificates, and the graduate minor.
• Oversee official communication of the program with students, the wider public and alumni by drafting newsletters, handle the program's social media presence and maintain the website, in collaboration with student assistants and faculty members.
• Assist the Director of the Jewish Studies Program in liaising with other academic and nonacademic units and administrators in the College and the University, with student organizations and different Jewish campus organizations.
Education and Experience:
Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in a Jewish Studies related discipline is preferred.
The successful candidate is team-oriented, has experience with and enjoys working with undergraduate students, is committed to student success, can take initiative to identify and develop solutions to problems, can creatively identify new ways to engage students, and collaborate closely with staff and faculty in the Jewish Studies Program.
In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
