POSITION:
The Department of History at California State University Stanislaus invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in U.S. history with an emphasis and demonstrated expertise in public/digital history, and preferred areas of specialization that may include ethnicity/immigration, borderlands, and Native American history. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate-level courses (including the U.S. History freshman survey) and graduate-level courses, maintaining active research and scholarship, and performing department, college, and university service. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop new courses in public/digital history, and in their areas of specialization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in History or related field, with public/digital history experience, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship and evidence of a strong commitment to student success.

The Department of History currently has eight tenure-track faculty specializing in US, Europe, Latin America, and East Asia. We offer BA and MA degrees. While our primary mission is teaching, we also expect our faculty to be actively engaged in research and scholarship, and our department has a strong track record in this regard. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE
The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties.
