About the Full-time Faculty of Social Studies Position
The undergraduate Social Studies program at Fulbright University Vietnam invites applications for an open-rank, full-time faculty position in Sociology, Gender Studies, Anthropology, or Political Science. The appointment begins in August 2022. Social Studies is the newest major program at Fulbright University and offers students interdisciplinary, liberal art, approach to the study of society. As this is a cluster hire, we are interested in building new strengths with a variety of faculty specializations.
Of particular interest are candidates who hold research expertise in Science and Technology Studies (STS), social studies of medicine, political economy, human development, gender, race, or religion; however, research need not be limited to these areas – applicants with an interdisciplinary background across social science fields are especially welcome to apply. Expertise with global institutions, transnationality, or comparative work with Asia is also preferred.
Successful candidates will contribute to our core curriculum, an introductory major course (survey, theory, or methods), and teach in their own area of specialization on a basis of 4 courses per year in addition to advising graduating student capstone projects. They will also help build the social studies major in its formative years. Essential qualifications: Ph.D. in hand desired, ABD considered.

About the Full-time Faculty of History Position
Economic and Social History of the Atlantic World
Fulbright University Vietnam’s history program invites applications for an open-rank, full-time position in the economic and social history of the early modern or modern Atlantic World. The program seeks candidates whose work explicitly links the histories of economic thought and capitalism to issues of race, society, colonialism, and nationalism in one or more of the following regions: North America, Latin America, Africa, and/or the Caribbean. Candidates should be able to demonstrate that their research and teaching can address one or more of the following themes: the rise of capitalism and trans-oceanic commerce; the African slave trade, abolition, and African diasporic communities; settler colonialism and the history of indigenous populations; the history of New World imperial systems; and wars of independence. Scholars with interdisciplinary experience who are eager to draw conceptual connections between their work and the history of Asia-Pacific are especially desirable.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach 4 courses per year, including at least one section of Fulbright’s humanities core course (“Global Humanities and Social Change”) and at least one introductory survey course focusing on Atlantic and/or economic history. New hires will have the freedom to develop intermediate and advanced courses of their choosing to help build the history program. Faculty receive internationally competitive salaries and benefits, including a professional development allowance and international healthcare coverage. The appointment will begin in August 2022.

About the Full-time Faculty of Art and Media Studies Position
The undergraduate Art and Media Studies program at Fulbright University Vietnam invites applications for an open-rank, full-time faculty position in Film and Media Studies. The appointment begins in August 2022. Of interest are candidates who hold research expertise in film and media arts, histories, and theories relevant to Global South contexts, and particularly those of Southeast Asia; however, research need not be limited to these areas. Additional expertise in global creative and cultural industries would be welcome, along with the ability to teach practicum courses in filmmaking and media production.
The successful faculty member will teach, develop, and potentially collaborate on new and existing curriculum on the basis of 4 courses per year. The faculty member will be expected to teach one or more introductory courses, contribute to the university’s Core curriculum, develop more specialized upper-level courses, and advise student capstone projects.
Essential qualifications: Ph.D. in hand desired, ABD considered.
