Responsibilities:
The Department of History at the University of Manitoba seeks a scholar of Modern World history with research expertise in the history of capitalism or transnational networks for a full-time probationary tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be for a scholar of world history with demonstrated expertise and interest in the intersection of histories of capitalism, colonialism, and decolonization and/or race, slavery, migration, gender and sexuality. The successful candidate must be both able and willing to teach Modern World history courses at the introductory and advanced levels. Teaching responsibilities include core introductory courses in Modern World History at the 1000 and 2000-level, as well as upper-level and graduate-level course offerings.
Qualifications:
The appointment will begin on July 1, 2022, or soon thereafter. The successful candidate must have a PhD in History by the time of appointment. The starting salary will reflect the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate, but this is an entry-level position. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence and success in research and teaching. Responsibilities will include maintaining a productive research program; undergraduate and graduate teaching in one or more delivery modes, including in-person instruction; graduate student supervision in Modern World History; developing graduate and undergraduate offerings; and service-related activities.
