The Communication Program at Thomas Jefferson University seeks to hire an Assistant Professor on the tenure track with scholarly and professional expertise in communication, media studies, and journalism who will also serve as Director of the Communication Program, beginning August 15, 2022.
This leadership position offers the opportunity to work with communication, writing, and other faculty to shape and build Jefferson’s Communication program. In addition to teaching and career advising in the program, required work will include cooperating with professionals at the university to market the program, recruit students, build internship opportunities and connect with media professionals in the Philadelphia region on behalf of the program and its students. The successful candidate should possess an established record of scholarship and practice within communication, journalism and media studies with the potential for growth in the future.
Educational Requirements:
PhD. in communication, media studies or related area.
Experience Requirements:
Credentials consistent with a tenure track appointment. Mastery of concepts in communication/media studies and media practices and technology. Applicants should possess an established record of scholarship and practice within communication, journalism and media studies with the potential for growth in the future. Ability to teach media skills (writing/audio/visuals) required. Experience teaching at a University level in media, communication is desirable, as is professional experience in journalism and media. Applicants must be collaborative and open to creating synergies across disciplinary areas
