Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member with a strong commitment to general education and African studies.
The successful candidate will teach in general education courses with international content and may have opportunities to help design new multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary courses in the undergraduate general education core curriculum as well as in new interdisciplinary majors under development. The standard teaching load is 12 credits per semester, with reductions for administrative roles.

Candidate must have a research doctorate or a foreign equivalent to a U.S. doctoral degree in African Studies or related field.
Candidates should have a record of excellence in teaching at the college level; strong scholarship in their field(s) of expertise; and demonstrated commitment to the pedagogies of active student learning. The candidate should demonstrate research expertise in African Studies and the African diaspora; possible areas of disciplinary specialization include cultural studies; contemporary history; literature; anthropology; or related disciplines. Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting and a commitment to interdisciplinary research is a plus.
